So I'm going to college next yr and I might live in a dorm if I decide to go to a four yr.I usually straighten my hair but was planning on stopping in college because straightening it takes hours and my hair is breaking from the damage! Its shoulder length when straightened so its not long enough curly for me to do one braid and leave it at that :/
I tried wearing my hair out without straightening but it doesn't stay down and when I actually had a style I liked my friends said it didn't look good and I should go back to straightening.

So yeah. I'm actually very interested about what you guys have in your bag. I mean, being from a foreign country, I wonder if what I lug around is similar with what you guys have.

In my bag:

Make-up,
1. The Faceshop Freshian Real Tint
2. The Faceshop Illuminating Cushion Blusher
3. Maybelline Clearsmooth Minerals Instant Skin Perfecting B.B. Cream
4. E.L.F. Two-way cake foundation
5. Lewis & Pearl Body and Face Powder in white blush
6. Eyelash curler from The Faceshop
7. Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara

My handy-dandy notebook for notes in classes, a hankerchief, my clearbook for photocopied notes & important hand-outs, my oh-so important Cosmopolitan eyeglasses (I'm imparied when it comes to sight, unfortunately, I'm not 20/20), my wallet from Liz Claiborne, some random cologne, and Evian Brumisateur facial spray.

Phew. That's a LOT of stuff. But my bag can handle it. It's like my Mary Poppin's bag. Everything you need is right inside. ;)

So yeah, lemme know what you guys have inside yours! I'm really curious!

Hi,
I am doing a year abroad in America (from England) any tips or advice in coming to the US?
I have travelled to Florida and New York before but to tourist areas so 'normal' life is going to be very different.
Also the schooling seems very different from what I have seen/read to what I am used to.
Thanks for anything you can throw at me so to speak!

p.s Feel free to ask about England/UK if you want to or are coming over here

alexis9 on "Back to School: must-have beauty products!"

There are endless beauty supplies out there. For your hair, for your face, for your body. The list goes on and on. I haven't tried everything, but boy have I tried ALOT! Out of everything I've tried, these are the products I've found work the best and are absolute NEEDS when it comes to school and school preperation (really just everyday life!!):

FOR HAIR:
1. TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray- Apply before both blow-drying and applying direct heat (curling iron, straightener, waver, etc.) to hair to minimize heat damage. Makes hair feel softer and healthier all around!
2. ANY KIND of Detangler Spray- Apply preferably to wet hair before brushing/combing. Gives hair softer feeling regardless if your hair is actually that full of tangles. Plus, most come in scents that smell good!
***Not a must-have, but the Bedhead Wave Artist is an awesome hair waver! They are pretty cheap at Walmart and give very cute results. If you're looking for a way to switch up your hairstyle, this product is PERFECT!

FOR THE FACE:
--- Disclaimer: most of these products will be for acne prone skin, although I'm sure they would work just as well for skin that is not.
1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Scrub- Apply to face in the morning and night. Not only does it smell good, but it also works to cleanse, revive, and protect. I've found scrubs work the best at actually getting to your pores and removing the dirt rather than "liquid" washes. Oil-Free quality is also a must with acne.
2. Mary Kay Blemish Control Toner- Apply after washing your face once per day. The toner contains 2% salicylic acid for medicated acne treatment. Reduces pore size and fights acne. (it's directed to only use once per day because it can be drying)
3. Velocity Lightweight Moisturizer by Mary Kay- Apply twice-a-day after washing your face. Very light so it doesn't clog pores, but keeps skin hydrated.

For at-school face issues:
***Don't forget your powder! An oily face can creep up on you at any time, and it is not attractive!!

FOR THE BODY:
--- I'm not very big on body stuff. A good lotion and body wash is good enough for me. However, shaving is very important to me!
1. Schick Intuition Plus "Razor"- This product comes with a built in bar of soap around the razor so no shaving cream is needed. Available relatively cheap at any grocery or drugstore. *TIP: When using this razor, it is best to store out of the shower. I've found it "melts" the soap faster if kept in the shower while not in use.

Hope you find that these products work well, also! I'll definitely being using all of these as I prepare to go back to school this week. I'm not super excited about it, but with all of these products, I'll definitely be ready in the beauty aspect!
Enjoy YOUR school year and take care of yourself!!

Based on a recent commentor who was appalled that I even have images of anything that even resembles fur on the site, I wanted to know how you girls feel:

Do you wear fur? How about faux fur? If yes or no, what are your reasons?

I'm torn. I only have bought faux fur, with the exception of my moccasins, which are trimmed with real rabbit fur. I hate the idea of the cruelty of the fur industry, but I have trouble decided what is a real problem and what is just PETA hype.

Now this school I'm going to has none of that! how can i cover my face to look at least decent? I'm chilled with not wearing eye shadow and instead of mascara i just curl my eye lashes but my face! How can i make it look like I'm not wearing base but still look at least normal and not like i just survived a sand storm! Please help and give feedback about tinted moisturizer as well? Heard that COULD work.

Hi everyone!

I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas of what I can expect from my first year. I'm going to UMass in the fall and I really have no idea what to expect and I'm really nervous! I hear it's going to be a lot of fun, but to be honest, I'm completely dreading it! I have never really been away from home, and I'm really worried I can't do it. Did anyone else feel like this?? Am I the only one???

They said that this is the most exciting part of your life when you graduate from high school, and you are off to college. This is the point of your existence where you are going to make new friends and to choose your career in life.

It is also the time where you have got to get rid of your high school clothing style, put on a new trendy and a more mature outfit for college. So of course on your first day of class you would want to look nice and presentable. Since you are going back to school this fall you can go on wearing outfits that are in style and make a lot of heads turn as you strut along the alleys of your school.

College is a place where you don’t have to wear any particular uniforms so you can totally fashion out here. So we will be following the fall colors which will consist of purples, olive green, camel colors, reds, and grays. Let us go ahead and choose several outfits and start mixing and matching them. I suggest you also buy dresses and garments that have these colors. So purchase a lot of crimson, plums, tans or camel colored outfits.

Here are several looks that you can choose on:

Look no 1:

This is more of like a casual look: Have on a <a href="http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:40p_LkMioGF-JM:http://www.couturecandy.com/store/assets/fashionchateau/royalplush/RYP0258-fnt.jpg&t=1">gray tank top and pair it with black skinny jeans. For your footwear, you can put on flat gray boots and carry a gray or silver toned bag with you to amp your attire.

Look no. 2:

Put on a gray v-neck shirt with a black and white strip design, and over it have on a black open cardigan. You can also use a red jacket over this look. For your bottom wear, have on your blue jeans and for your foot wear put on black pumps. To complete this look carry a black leather bag with you.

Look no. 3:

This is what I call the purple power look: Have on a dark purple ruffled tank top and put on white pants for your bottom wear. For your footwear show off in a plum colored pumps and carry with you a glittering violet bag.

Look no. 4:

This outfit is going to be a combination of wearing a purple colored shirt and a magenta skirt. Tuck in your top inside your skirt and then put on a black big belt on your waist. Wear knee high socks and for your footwear put on a sleek black ankle boots.

Look no. 5:

This look is called Mean Green. Have on a green tank top and wear a military jacket over it. You can wear green pants with lots of pockets on the side just remember to fold up the edges until it reaches your knee to give your attire more coolness to it. Put on a green olive toned tennis shoes or converse.

Bonus: Net-a-Porter is a site where you can choose on a lot of women’s clothing lines that sell high-end fashion items that you can use for your college attire.

I like a lot of the ideas on here, but I don't have like any of the type clothes they post. I've got white and black fitted tees, graphic tees, a couple skirts, a gray cardigan, jeans, shorts, hoodies. Normal clothes... No colored cardigans, eight hundred diff colored scarves, or tons of heels. Anyone have outfit ideas that work for everyone?

Hey girls!

I read a few posts about what to wear to school this fall. I know we all have our days where pajama pants and a cute tank seem ideal, but ladies there are simple solutions! Every closet should be equipped with a fitted blazer ( add this to any t shirt and skinnny Jean combo with wavy locks and you've nailed it.
A little chilly outside? Throw on some smokey grey tights with an oversized coat and a pair of booties to warm you right up!

I'll post some more key essentials for fall soon!

Little5. :)

Hey everyone! My name is Amanda and I need help with a blog I recently made. It's called Rasberry Dress (raspberrydress.wordpress.com)and if you are a foodie and style savvy, you could make a great intern for my blog. Since it is new, there are very simple tasks and your profile could be added to the masthead! Please email me at raspberrydress@live.ca!

Okay, so I'm going in one of the most stylish countries in Europe - Italy - in less than a week, and I have some fashion alerts.
First, does someone know how is there in the middle of July - just to know what I'm packing.
Then. What do round sunglasses go with?
And what do you girls recommend me to wear in Italy?
Muffins for anyone who helps me. :D
